Phantom Phantom Limb
Acrylic mirror and aluminum braces
The mirror, normally used to view the self, is custom made to reflect the space of the handrail, a significant architectural object. Much like an appendage of the house, the railing is a local for an intimate interaction of hand and house. On one side the mirror doubles the handrail giving an uncanny sense or an alternative view, like a cut and paste or a phantom handrail. The backside of the two-‐sided mirror then obscures the actual handrail and replaces it with a reflection of the architecture of the hallway and slicing up the space.
